LRDG Heart Pendant

These days; with all of the Ancestry.com advertisements, there are more and more folks looking into the background of their relatives that served with the LRDG. With that, there seems to be more “memorabilia” showing up. Some of them are quite unique; like the “Camel Tooth” on one of the other pages.

Now this item “just” showed up on the Facebook page the other day. Gent purchased a small collection from a distant relative of “Tom Cranston” #7881107 whose parent unit was the Royal Tank Regiment; but served with the LRDG as a driver in Ken Lazarus Survey Section. You can find his photo on the Trooper Album page here or here.

The collection consisted of his medals, included a (repaired) cap badge made into a pin, his id tags and this very unique “heart” pendant with scorpion in the center. Looking closely at the “scorpion”; it appears to me that it was “cut out” from a regular cap badge.
